RIDES

Virginia City March 8, 2014 – Waited till late morning to headout. Overnight temps dropped to 27 degrees. Headed south on I-580 and exited at Nevada 341 (Virginia City Highway).  After just starting up the hill I am reminded that we ride in “wild horse” country. Wild Horse Warning!

I looped around and came into Virginia City from the south. The building in the background is the Fourth Ward School.

The city was busy but not packed for a beautiful Saturday.

Parking on “C Street” along the boardwalk.  I would be remiss if I did not visit the world famous Bucket of Blood Saloon.

I noticed this sign for the new Mustang Ranch Saloon and Steakhouse opening March 15, 2014.  If at the ranch or the steakhouse – I’m sure the service will be excellent!

Six Mile Canyon? Sounds like a the title for a Louis L’amour novel.  I will save the canyon for another day.

Six Mile Canyon

A nice scenic view heading out of town.

For those who have ridden the Virginia City Highway you will know what I mean when I say it was built for motorcycles!  Lots of sweepers and fantastic views.  Note the highway as it continues its downhill run on the left of the photo just above the guardrail.

It was a nice brisk 58 degrees and at least as many motorcycles as cars where on the highway.  Another winter storm is due to hit in the next 24 hours so it was nice to get out and ride!

Next weekend, March 15th, Virginia City will be having its annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival, so get out and have yourself a “ball” or two before dining at the Mustang Ranch Saloon and Steakhouse!
